Misty’s professional accomplishments in giving back to the community are on a scale seldom seen by small businesses owners. A large part of Misty’s sky-high energy level is rooted in grassroots charitable giving. Her studio, Misty’s Dance Unlimited, founded in 1998 and named a “Top 50 Studios in the Nation” by Dance Spirit Magazine, has provided over $175,000 in combined cash and studio scholarships for young women. She produced the popular “Dancing with the La Crosse Stars” event, which raised $400,000 for the local American Red Cross. Misty founded Cash For Classrooms in partnership with Coulee Parenting Connection Magazine to provide grants for local classroom needs. Additionally, she has funded two local elementary school food pantries for the holidays, provided over $13,000 in school sponsorships and equipment for a school in Cite Soleil, Haiti and over 175 pair of shoes for kids in poverty in Haiti, the Bahamas, and her former elementary school. Misty coordinated an All-City, Non-Alcoholic Teen Dance and a flash mob for Gundersen Lutheran Hopsital’s “Stepping Out in Pink” to support breast cancer research. Misty is also a sponsor for countless community donations for charity events, benefits, church and school programs each year.
